Crypts typically generate far from the spawn point. They can be located with modded , which are obtained from cartographer , but a map may not always point to the nearest one. The nearest crypt may also be located via the / structure goety:crypt enabled by cheats.

The mobs, border wraiths, crypt slimes, bone spiders, and can naturally spawn within the crypts, with haunted armor having the highest weight of all the mobs and the cairn necromancers having the lowest.

Zombies and skeletons can also spawn from within certain rooms of the crypt.

The structure is primarily made of crypt blocks, which are blocks that can only be mined with a diamond-level .

The entrance always generates a long spiral staircase towards the entrance room where there's four pillars and a spawner that spawns zombies with infinite . From the entrance room comes three additional paths, one leading towards the skull lord's chambers. The paths consists of long hallways that branch off to other hallways, a room or a dead end.

The hallways are lined with blocks shaped like sarcophagi by the wall, lit behind and may contain a crypt urn resting above a crypt plinth block.

A room with hanging from , one of which is actually a at the left of the room's entrance, with a chest placed on top of a chiseled crypt stone, surrounded by unlit candles, at the end of the room with two piles of to its sides. Three haunted armors generate in this room.

A room full of crypt bookshelves, special that can be broken with a diamond-level pickaxe and provide 2 enchanting power instead of 1, with two 'desks' made of at the sides of the center row of bookshelves. There's a skeleton spawner hidden in the middle of the two desks. Two cairn necromancers generate in this room. At the corner of the left row of bookshelves lies a chest that can contain the and/or a map to an .

The rarest room. Contains a broken at the end of the room, with piles of at the sides of it. In front to the right of the broken portal is chest that shares loot table. Two , surrounded by crypt bricks stairs and lit on fire, are placed to the sides of the middle. To the sides of the room's entrance are pillars of with that contain and .

A room that contains piles of at the corners of the room. In the middle lies a skeleton spawner with a loot chest underneath the spawner, surrounded by crypt bricks stairs. Between the ore piles are odd pillars that are made of polished crypt stone walls and chains, surrounded by unlit candles.

A room with lined across the room's walls. In the middle lies a crypt urn placed on a raised platform underneath a chandelier made of haunted wood and .

The room contains a total of 6 crypt urns, with a shrine-like decoration at the end of it, made of crypt stones, polished crypt stones, lit candles and a skeleton skull, separated by haunted fences lit by soul torches, with pillars made of crypt brick walls, crypt brick slabs and crypt pillar blocks directing to it. A cairn necromancer and two haunted armors generate in this room. Room design based on this Youtube .

The room only spawns once in each crypt. The room consists of five tombs made of crypt bricks stairs with slabs as lids. Underneath the lids of the four tombs contains a loot chest and a skeleton skull. The main tomb contains a locked active pithos, where right-clicking on it will summon a skull lord. At the sides of the main tomb lies on top of, crypt bricks stairs surrounded, soul sand. The room is also full of candles, with some being lit.

This is due to the terrain adaptation sticking to the crypt's entrance level. More info .
