The irk is a small flying hostile mob. It can phase through walls, and is summoned by viziers or players wearing a grand turban. They attack by shooting a small soul bullet at their target.

Spawning

When a vizier or a grand turban wearing player takes damage, they have a 50% chance of spawning an irk on their location. The chance becomes 100% if their health is equal or below 1/2 of their maximum health.

Irks spawned by spawn eggs are always hostile.

Drops

Hostile irks will drop 3 experience.

If killed by a mob or player, the killer gains 1 heart of health back.

Behavior

Irks behave similarly to vexes, in that they can phase through blocks and have the same lifespan mechanic.

Irks will attack mobs or players depending on their type and owner. Irks will follow their owners unlike vexes.

Irks attack by positioning themselves near their target, similar to withers, before shooting a small projectile.

When inside a block, irks will try to move towards the highest air block.

Trivia

  • Irks are based on the Probe from Terraria in terms of functionality, as the viziers are based on The Destroyer.
