Classification

Undead

Behavior

Passive (player is owner or active) Neutral (owned by a different player or spawned via command or spawn egg)

Damage

7 (Default)

Vanguard servants are neutral mobs that attacks monsters with their glaive. They wield a shield that breaks after taking a hit.

Spawning

Vanguard servants are spawned using a Wand or Staff equipped with a Vanguard Focus. More servants are spawned when summoned using Necro or Nameless Staff.

They can also be spawned through command or spawn egg.

Behavior

Summoned vanguards will follow their summoner if its 10 blocks away from them unless put into Wandering or Standing By mode.

In Wandering mode, within 10 blocks of their summoner, or non-owned vanguards wanders aimlessly and tries to avoid water, obstacles and environmental hazards.

Vanguard servants that are spawned through spawn egg or commands will target hostile mobs like iron golems, and will retaliate when damaged.

After a time Vanguard servants will start to die off by taking damage, like Vexes, unless their owner wears a Necro or Nameless Crown.

Attacking

A vanguard servant attacks by stabbing their target with their glaive. Non-allied entities within 3 blocks in front of them will also get stabbed and take damage.

Shield

A vanguard servant can negate most types of damage and knockback with their shield once, as it will then break. Their shields do not protect them from damage types that bypasses invulnerability, and from their summoner killing them with their Wand or Staff.

They can get a new shield if their summoner right-clicks on them with a Wooden Plank of any type, while they are not attacking.

Mob Type

Vanguard servants are undead mobs, causing them to be damaged by the Instant Health status effect, healed by the Instant Damage status effect, and unaffected by the status effects Regeneration and Poison. Vanguard servants are affected by the Smite enchantment.

Vanguard servants don't catch fire in sunlight.

Like other undead servants, vanguard servants will heal using their owner's soul energy if owner wears a Necro or Nameless Cape.

Trivia

  • Vanguard servants are based on Minecraft Dungeons' Vanguard mob.

    • If "vanguardServantTexture" under goety-mobs.toml is disabled, their texture will change to look like the Vanguard.

  • The armor of the vanguard servants is based on Minecraft Dungeons' Guard's Armor.

  • The vanguard servants equipment are part of their model and are not an actual items in the mod.

  • According to some entries on the Black Book, it's implied that vanguard servants, and the focus that summons them, were made using stolen magic.
