Lichdom is an endgame player transformation that gives them the characteristics of a . It is obtained by drinking the Potion of Transformation on a . It cannot be reversed without using commands.
The player then must read the scroll in order to be able to perform the Master Necroturgy Ritual, which is needed to craft the Potion of Transformation.
It is through this ritual that the Potion of Transformation can be created.
The potion, when successfully drunk, turns the drinker into a lich. For a successful transformation, the player must:
Drink the potion at night, during a Full Moon.
If the conditions are not met properly, the player will get the message "You didn't prepare yourself properly to drink the potion!"
Players with permission level above 2 can use the command /lichdom
to grant or revoke lichdom from either themselves or other players.
Liches have several innate abilities, both beneficial and detrimental:
Liches can transform from and into Lich Form by pressing the associated key (Default: N)
Liches are immune to drowning and will never lose air.
Liches heal using soul energy. Amount, rate and cost can be configured.
Liches take 1/2 damage from freezing attacks.
If "lichUndeadFriendly" is enabled, Undead mobs are not hostile to Liches.
If "lichPowerfulHostile" is enabled, this only applies to Undead that have less than 50 maximum hearts of health.
If "lichDamageHelmet" is enabled, being in daylight while not having Fire Resistance damages their helmet.
Liches also have special 'cantrips' they can cast by pressing certain keys:
Pressing the "Lich Kiss" key (default: R), while looking at a mob or player will cause a ray of black particles to shoot out from the Lich towards the target. The target will take 0.5 hearts of magic damage from the ray and cause the Lich to gain soul energy.
Pressing the "Lich Magnet" key (default: M), will cause all nearby items and experience points within 16 blocks of the Lich to fly towards them.
The cantrips requires no soul energy to perform.
If "lichScrollRequirement" under goety.toml is enabled, in order to become a Lich, the player must find/craft and use them to create the .
This ritual has the same requirements as regular , except that recipes specifying this ritual requires the player to have read the Forbidden Scroll.
Have an active .
Prepare for death (Have enough in Arca/Holding offhand)
If the first two conditions are met, drinking the potion will deal 25 hearts of Wither damage and grant the player lichdom. The third condition is more useful to players playing mode.
Liches have constant effect, if "lichNightVision" is enabled.
Liches do not have a hunger bar. They can still eat food, but will never be full as their hunger level will constantly be at 17 ().
Liches don't get insomnia, preventing from spawning on them.
Liches heal from , while taking damage from .
Liches share immunity towards certain effects with other mobs. (ie, , ).
Liches take more damage from Enchantment.
Liches cannot obtain , , and effects.
Liches when punching an mob or a player with an empty hand gives them the effect.
If a Lich hurts an entity with an item that's tagged under lich_wither_items (by default, has only air on it, meaning empty hand like above), and the entity in question is not Undead, the entity will also get effect.
If a Lich wears the full , and has taken damage from an entity, every Undead within 16 blocks of the Lich will defend them.
Liches burn in daylight. Wearing a helmet or drinking mitigates this weakness.
Liches will always teleport towards their regardless of the amount of soul energy they possess.
However, if they didn't have enough soul energy to have revive without Lichdom, they will gain effect. If their Arca is removed, the Lich will die normally.
If "lichVillagerHate" is enabled, Liches will gain negative reputation with nearby , provided said Villager doesn't have a high-enough reputation for the player, and non-player made will be hostile towards them.
The effects liches can be affected by are coded to depend on whether a can be affected by said effects, aside from Blindness, Nausea, Saturation and Hunger. For example, if a modded effect cannot affect zombies, it cannot affect liches.
Liches returning to life at the is based on how DnD were said to regenerate at their phylactery and are unable to truly die unless it's destroyed.
