The cursed cage does nothing on its own. Right-clicking the cage with a totem or a transfer gem will put the item within it.

When certain artifices is placed ontop, or in certain cases under, it, it will siphon soul energy from the totem or transfer gem in it.

Crouching, while looking at a filled cage, will show how much soul energy it can provide.

Spawner

If an empty cursed cage is right-clicked with a filled fire spawn cage, it will transform into a monster spawner of the fire spawn cage's mob.
