Classification

Behavior

Spawning

Ministers can spawn depending on the player's soul energy count. The amount of soul energy needed for them to spawn naturally is 5x the amount specified under the goety.toml config of "illagerAssaultThreshold" (default: 2500). Ministers have a chance of spawning in different skins.

Illager Assault

Ministers spawned through this will attempt to pathfind their way to the nearest player within 64x32x64 blocks from their location.

Raids

Ministers will spawn in raids if at least one of the players participating in it has the specified amount of soul energy. They will always spawn on the last wave of the hardest raid difficulty.

Drops

  • An Ominous Orb. Will only drop if their staff didn't break.

  • 99 experience when killed by a player, tamed wolf or servant.

  • 1 Treasure Pouch.

  • All Players within 32 blocks of them will have a 3 Minecraft Day rest period where Illager Assaults can no longer occur.

Behavior

While idle, a minister crosses its arms similar to a villager, with its staff stowed. When hostile, the minister brandishes its staff.

In between their attacks, the minister will try to run from their target if said target is within 4 blocks from them.

A Minister is passive to other illagers even if it is harmed by them.

Block

Ministers, when not casting spells or performing an attack, will block any attacks with their staff if the attack:

  • Does not bypass Invulnerability (ie. Void damage)

  • Does not bypass enchantments (ie. Warden Sonic Boom)

  • Is not explosion damage.

  • Is not from creative players.

  • Is coming from an entity.

Speech

If there are other Illagers, that aren't hostile to Ministers, within 32x16x32 area around them, other than themselves, Ministers will stop moving and start making an animation.

All the Illagers within the mention vicinity will stop attacking and try to look at the Minister during this time, provided that said Illager, has less maximum health than the Minister, hasn't been harmed by a non-allied entity recently, and is not targeting the Minister themselves.

Mocking Laugh

Command

Ministers will try to command all nearby Illagers, within 32x16x32 area around them, provided they have less maximum health than them and aren't hostile to Ministers, to attack their target if said target has harmed them recently.

Summon Vicious Teeth

A number of Vicious Teeth will appear above their target's location, floating in position for 3 seconds, 2 on Hard difficulty, before dropping. If their target is 4 blocks or closer to them, they will summon the teeth above themselves.

The spell cooldown depends on whether there are other illagers near the Minister, as if the cooldown is lower if the Minister is all by themselves.

The teeth summoned by the Minister deals no damage nor effect them and their allies.

Shoot Bolts/Bombs

Ministers, when not running away from their targets nor doing any of the above actions, will try to shoot Magic Bolts or Ill Bombs depending on whether their staff remains unbroken. Their shooting rate is slower if there are other Illagers around them.

If the staff remains intact, they will shoot Magic Bolts, which deals the same damage as their attack damage, meaning Strength effect will increase the bolt's damage.

Magic Bolts deals magic damage and leaves a cloud of magic on where it hits that deals small amount of damage to non-allied entities standing on it. It also gives the Cursed effect, which prevents entities from regenerating health.

If the Minister's staff broke, they will instead throw Ill Bombs at their targets.

Trivia

  • Originally, the first skin was a placeholder and would be replaced with the second skin, but due to its positive reception, the first skin remained and, as a compromise, Ministers would have multiple skins instead.

  • Ministers death animation is based on the Family Guy Death Pose meme.

  • The reason why Ministers have an aura that gives Resistance effect to nearby Illager is, as the mod author says, "They're just too inspiring!"

  • According to the Black Book, Ministers are leaders of the Illager tribe they're a part of.

A minister is a spell-casting mini-boss that can spawn if the player has high enough . They are the only source of Ominous Orbs which is used to craft certain items, but is only dropped under special conditions.

An Minister has a 15% chance of spawning near players, as part of an , that have specified amount or more soul energy. They will always spawn in groups of one.

Ministers will not spawn this way in where cannot occur.

4 - 16 if killed by the player, with the minimum increase by 1 and maximum increased by 2 with each level of .

Ministers are hostile toward players, , adult and .

Ministers have an 'aura' around themselves where Illagers within an 8x4x8 box around them will constantly gain . The aura doesn't affect the minister themselves, but can affect other ministers.

Like , and , Ministers will seek out and pick up any dropped or . They can pick up two if their offhand is empty, as any picked up Totem either goes on their offhand or in their internal inventory.

They will block the attacks using their staff, causing it to absorb the damage instead. The damage amount is doubled if attacked using an . Their staffs can absorb up to 32 hearts of damage, where the next attack will end up destroying the staff. Ministers are unable to block nor be able to drop an Ominous Orb once their staff's broken.

Once the animation is finished, the affected Illagers will gain effect for 30 seconds.

The Minister will let out a laugh and points at their target, where they will gain for 30 seconds. They will only do this if their target is 16 blocks or less away from them, has no Weakness effect applied onto them, and is capable of having the effect.

Ill Bombs will either explode in a regular non-griefing explosion, or scattershot 8 -24 in different directions.

Minister second and third skins are visually based on , the Spanish Conquistador that caused the fall of the Aztec Empire. Specifically, the second skin is based on this , while the third is based on .
