Spawning

Skull lords spawned through a pithos will be bound to the block. Once the skull lord is spawned, the pithos won't be able to spawn another.

A skull lord will always spawn with a bone lord.

Drops

  • 2.5% chance of dropping 1 iron crown, with an increase of 1% per Looting level.

  • 1 Treasure Pouch.

If the bound to a pithos, the pithos will be unlocked and will be able to be opened.

Behavior

Skull lords are hostile towards players.

If the skull lord is bound to a pithos, it will move around the block's vicinity, it it's 32 blocks away from the pithos, the skull lord, and bone lord if still alive, will teleport towards it. If the skull lord does not find any targets after a short amount of time, it and the bone lord will despawn. The pithos remains locked, but is able to spawn another skull lord.

Summon Servants

In both states, the skull lord will periodically spawn 2-4 Frozen Zombie, Stray Servants, or uncommonly Border Wraith Servants around itself. If fought underwater, they will spawn Drowned Servants instead. The servants will spawn on the nearest ground from the skull lord. On harder difficulties, they spawn them more quickly. They can only spawn if there's less than 8 servants, owned by itself, around themselves.

Invulnerable

If the bone lord remains alive, the skull lord will be invulnerable to all damage and is unable to be set on fire. If it had been damaged, it will heal 1 health per second during this state. The skull lord will try to move around the bone lord. The skull lord emits a line of particles towards their bone lord.

When invulnerable, their custom boss bar and their gem on their crown will be blue.

Vulnerable

When invulnerable, their custom boss bar and their gem on their crown will be red and their skull will gain a slightly reddish tone.

Charging

Soul Shockwave

On its vulnerable state, if their target is 4 blocks or nearer from the skull lord, they can start glowing and emit a fuse sound, for 60 ticks, 50 if below half of their max health, before letting loose a soul shockwave that deals magic damage to nearby non-allied entities from it that's within a 3 block radius from them. Afterwards, they will have a 200 ticks, 100 ticks if below half of their max health, cooldown before they can perform this move again.

Electrocute

When vulnerable, the skull lord has a low chance, higher if below half of their max health, they will emit electric particles around themselves before letting loose a stream of homing Electro Orbs at their target.

Spawn Bone Lord

After a while of being vulnerable, the skull lord will spawn a new bone lord, where it will be attached to it, becoming invulnerable once more.

A bone lord is a hostile undead mob that's spawned by and along with a skull lord.

Spawning

A bone lord is spawned when a skull lord is spawned, and can be spawned by a skull lord that's vulnerable after a time.

On harder difficulties, their equipment can spawn enchanted.

Bone lords will nigh-instantly despawn if they are not bound to a skull lord.

Drops

Bone lords does not drop their equipment as their HandDropChances is 0.

They drop 5 experience points

Behavior

A bone lord will share targets with their skull lord.

If their skull lords are equal or below 1/2 of their maximum health, they will gain 100% knockback resistance.

Much like skull lords, bone lords are not affected by cobwebs and are immune to explosions. They are immune to fall damage.

When not attacking, the bone lord will try to move around its skull lord.

Trivia

  • The reason skull lords and bone lords aren't affected by cobwebs was due to how in Goety 1, the pithos they were spawned from is located in the cobweb heavy Decrepit Fort.

  • According to the Black Book and associated advancement, they are the lord of the crypt they're found in.

If the skull lord is spawned through other means (ie, spawn egg, commands), or the pithos is removed, it will be subjected to the regular despawn mechanics of hostile mobs and is able to wander freely. They are not affected by .

If the bone lord dies, the skull lord will be vulnerable to damage though they are immune to explosion damage and will put itself off after a short amount of time.

During its vulnerable state, the skull lord will periodically charge at their target much like . When hitting a block or their target, they will emit a small non-destructive explosion. Hitting their target will damage them equal to their attack damage. Below half of their max health, a direct hit from them will apply Sapped.

Bone lords are spawned with Cursed Paladin Helmet (which is not rendered), Chestplate, Leggings and Boots. On Easy, they will spawn with a Diamond , on other difficulties, they will spawn with a Frozen Blade.
