Damage

Varies depending on brew

The crone is a hostile mini-boss mob that uses in combat, both in the form of magical weapons as splash or gas brews and in the form of drinkable brews for defense.

Spawning

When spawned, a crone will have a custom name that appear on their boss bar and above their heads. The name is purely cosmetic.

Drops

99 experience is dropped when kill credit is given to the player.

Crones have a chance of dropping the brew they were drinking before death.

Crones will also drop a Treasure Pouch.

Behavior

A crone pursues the player within 32 blocks and uses brews of varying level in combat, throwing splash brews offensively and drinking brews defensively. On Hard difficulty, the thrown brews have a chance of being gas brews. A crone has an infinite stock of brews.

Crones will throw brews with a variety of effects at their targets, depending on certain conditions surrounding their target.

The lower the crone's health is, the lower their interval of throwing their brews.

A crone may choose to equip and drink a brew each game tick (1⁄20 second) if it is not already drinking a potion. Drinking the brew takes 1.6 seconds, though if it had taken a large amount of damage beforehand, 0.8 seconds, and slows down its moving speed a little. The crone does not attack during this time.

If the crone's target is 64 blocks away, or not within its line of sight, it will teleport near their target every 30 ticks.

Trivia

    • Their application of thorn damage also comes from the boss.

    • The crone's big skirt was based on how the mod author mistook Baba Yaga's mortar for a big skirt.

  • Their death sound is a high-pitched Wilhelm scream stock sound.

  • The mod author mentions that the crones are sisters and/or cousins to the author of the Witches Brew book.

    • The mod author mentions that the book author would never be fought as he "don't like the idea of a bunch of hooligans harassing dear Ol' Granny!".

    • It's possible to simulate fighting the 'author' by name tagging a crone with the author's name.
