The arca is a player-made block that gives the player more storage and remote usage of soul energy.
Arcas are crafted using a Forge Ritual.
The player bound to the arca can instantly break them by right-clicking on it while crouching. When broken this way, the arca will be in item form.
Breaking the arca manually will completely destroy it.
Placing an arca will cause it to bound the placer as its owner.
An arca will emit enchanting particles if a player is bound to it.
If the player places down another arca, all other arcas will no longer be bound to the player.
An unbound arca can be bound towards a player, either its previous owner or another player, when they right-click on it. A bound arca cannot be bound to another.
When placed down by a player, the player will no longer be able to use soul energy through their totems and activates the player's internal soul storage. The player's inner storage will acquire all incoming soul energy in place of totems. The storage is usually, unless tweaked in configuration, far greater than the totems.
To use the stored energy, the player must use a transfer gem on the arca to bind it to the player's storage. The transfer gem can then be used as substitute for totems barring crafting items on crafting table.
If the arca is broken, and the player still has an amount of soul energy, the player will receive the Soul Hunger effect and will slowly lose all the stored energy. The effect cannot be removed until all the energy is removed or the player has managed to bind themselves to an arca once more.
The bound player can see their exact amount of soul energy by looking at the arca while crouching.
If the soul energy within the player is equal or more than the total capacity of Totem of Souls, as indicated in the soul meter as the blue bar, the player is able to survive a fatal blow instead of dying.
The effect works similarly to holding a Totem of Undying or having a full Totem of Souls, except that the player would teleport towards the arca's location the instant they were about to die. The arca will use up the amount, equal to a full totem of souls, of soul energy when doing this.
If the player does not have enough soul energy, they will die normally.
If the player is a lich, they will always revive at the arca no matter the soul energy they have on them. However, if the amount is lower than required, they will receive Soul Hunger V for 2 minutes.
Transfer gems are items used to transfer soul energy from the player to artifices if the player has bound themselves to an arca.
Transfer gems can be bound by right-clicking it on the active arca. Once bound, the gem can be placed within a cursed cage and transfer soul energy from the player's activated internal soul storage.
This allows multiple artifices to be powered from one source instead of multiple totems.
The word 'arca' is Latin for 'box' or 'chest' and was used to describe a chest or strong box used in ancient times as a receptacle for valuables and sacred objects.
The etymology and function of the block, makes it similar to a lich's phylactery, where the word had many meanings, one of which is a small object that's worn for magical power.
The Black Book mentions that the soul energy goes into the arca. In reality, the soul energy goes into an internal storage bound to the player, which is locked and unused until the player has placed down an arca.
Placing down the arca saves the arca's position and dimension to the player's data storage, where it would be used to ensure that the arca remains unbroken, and where the player teleports when upon receiving a fatal blow.
