Spawning

They can be spawned through the use of wartful eggs or from warlocks.

Behavior

Wartlings move and attack the same way as Spiders, meaning they can climb up walls and are immune to cobwebs.

If the owner is a player, they will seek out any hostile mobs within 35 blocks.

If the owner is a mob, they will attack whatever the mob's hostile towards.

When spawned through an owner, the wartling will 'store' a single negative effect from their owner, taking it in the process.

When storing the effect, the wartling is not affected by it, but will still emit particles associated with the effect. They can still be affected by other negative effects, aside from Poison, but not ones that are the same as the stored effect.

Wartlings usually follow their owners but, if they have stored a negative effect, they will attempt to avoid their owners.

Wartlings have a 9 second lifespan when spawned through an owner, they behave differently depending on certain conditions when it reaches the end:

  • If the wartling has stored a negative effect, or has no owner, it will immediately die. Upon death, if there's a stored negative effect, it will leave behind a small lingering cloud of said effect.

  • If it still has an owner and does not store a negative effect, it will try to pathfind its way back to their owner. If the wartling reaches their owner, they will disappear and heal the owner the amount of health they had possessed. If they were affected with effects, only the positive effects will transfer towards their owner.

  • If the wartling has been crawling for more 5 seconds on its way to their owner, they will instantly die instead.

As arthropods, they take more damage and are slowed from Bane of Arthropods enchantment.

A wartling is neutral arthropod mob that can be spawned by a player using , or by as a means of offense or healing.

Wartlings will defend their owners much like .
