Dark Metal Ingots, its armor and tools, and their self-repairing properties, albeit through the use of soul energy, is based on and inspired by Thaumcraft's Void metal Ingots.
Dark Metal was created due to the mod author getting tired of getting their armor and tools broken and to give soul energy more uses.
